At Shorts Group, sustainability isn’t just something we talk about - it’s something we actively build into everything we do. That’s why our partnership with COM:POST continues to be such an important and rewarding collaboration.

For over a year now, COM:POST have been helping us divert floral waste away from landfill by collecting it from florists and delivering it to our Planners Farm site in Berkshire. From there, we transform this green waste into high-quality, PAS 100 accredited compost- giving what was once discarded a new life.

Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of London florists to our site, alongside the COM:POST team. The aim was to show complete transparency in how floral waste can be sustainably managed, and to demonstrate the real impact of choosing composting over disposal.

During the visit, florists were able to see first-hand how their green waste is handled - from arrival on site, through the composting process, and into a finished product ready for use. It’s a journey that supports a more circular approach to how we use and reuse materials. The compost produced on site can go on to support the growing of new flowers, that may one day return to the very florists who helped make it possible. A true closed-loop system in action.

By working together with COM:POST and the florist community, we’re not only reducing waste - we’re reshaping how it’s viewed. Waste isn’t the end of the story; it’s part of the circular loop.

We’re proud to be part of a shared mission to create a more sustainable future for the floral industry, and this is just the start!
