Great Big Green Week 2026: Small Actions, Big Impact
From 6–14 June 2026, communities across the UK will come together for Great Big Green Week, the nation's largest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.
The week brings together over a million people who share a common goal: creating greener, healthier and more sustainable places to live. Whether it's supporting local wildlife, reducing waste, improving green spaces or encouraging sustainable choices, every action contributes to positive change.
Great Big Green Week is about showing what can be achieved when communities work together. It's an opportunity to make a difference locally while sending a clear message to decision-makers that people across the UK want a cleaner, greener future for everyone.
How You Can Get Involved
You don't need to make huge changes to have an impact. Here are some simple ways to support your community during Great Big Green Week:
1. Join a Community Clean-Up
Help tidy local parks, streets, waterways or green spaces by taking part in a litter-picking event.
2. Support Local Nature
Plant pollinator-friendly flowers, create wildlife habitats in your garden, or volunteer with local conservation groups.
3. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
Organise or attend a community swap shop, repair café or recycling initiative to help reduce waste.
4. Walk, Cycle or Use Public Transport
Choose greener ways to travel where possible and encourage others to do the same.
5. Volunteer Your Time
Many community organisations welcome volunteers for environmental projects, tree planting schemes and educational activities.
6. Start Conversations
Share ideas with friends, family and colleagues about how small lifestyle changes can benefit both people and the planet.
Together We Can Make a Difference
Every action, no matter how small, helps build stronger communities and supports a more sustainable future. By getting involved in Great Big Green Week, you’re helping to create positive change where it matters most – right on your doorstep.
