DIY SOS: Rafi's Inspiring Story

Did you catch the latest episode of DIY SOS on Friday?

This episode took place in Bracknell and involved a touching story surrounding 8 year old Rafi, who was diagnosed with haemolytic uremic syndrome in 2023, a condition caused by toxins produced by e‑coli bacteria. This caused severe brain damage and meant that Rafi’s home was no longer suitable for him. The DIY SOS team and volunteers from the local community made an amazing adaption to Rafi and his family’s home, meaning he can continue to live at home and didn’t have to return to hospital care.

Shorts Group were honoured to assist BBC One’s DIY SOS in their latest project, supplying the team with skips, wheelie bins, and track mats for waste management on site. When we saw the post from DIY SOS requesting support from the Bracknell community, Shorts didn’t hesitate to jump in and donate our supplies for the renovation, knowing how powerful it can be when people come together to make a difference. We are proud to support our local community in every way we can and make a positive impact. It’s amazing to see the transformation of the house and the difference it has made to Rafi and his family.

Rafi has made incredible progress since the transformation of his home and is now taking steps and talking. Shorts Group wishes Rafi and his family all the best in his recovery journey. You are a true inspiration!
